Information for parents

How much does the course cost?

There is no cost for any course we provide to any courses for young people. Course costs only apply to advanced course which we provide.

Does my child receive a wage for attending their course?

Apprenticeships are the only courses which provide a statutory weekly income which is set by the government.All current information is available here. On occasions we are provided with incentives to give to new starters when they complete their course but this is a discretionary payment at intermittent times. Please ask us for further information.

Is there any Financial Support?

Yes, you may be entitled to help called a Bursary which can be used for travel to and from college, meals whilst at college and any resources they may need. For further information regarding Bursaries please click here.

Information for parents

What will my child learn?

Each course provides different outcomes, qualifications and awards and this information is. They will not only work towards a qualification but we can support them with the following: help with reading and writing, first aid, IT, looking for a job, health and safety, food hygiene, skills training, presentation skills, work tasters in a wide variety of topics and visits, qualifications too. This is not school so the young adults attending our courses learn to become more independent. For more information on a specific course or qualification please click here.

Well-being of your child

The well-bring of your child is paramount to us. We have a number of Health & Safety, safeguarding and welfare policies in place to make it simple for you or your child to express any concerns. We pride ourselves on health and safety in the workplace and our Health & Safety officer thoroughly assesses the placements before the apprentice starts. Comprehensive Health & Safety awareness is carried out on induction at Martec and also in the workplace.

We have a dedicated Keep Safe Officer who people can contact at any time of day if they need someone to talk to, are experiencing bullying or discrimination at work or in their personal lives or have any issues or worries. We also have an experienced Welfare Officer who is always available to offer information, advice and guidance on their progression and will visit the apprentice every 3 months to make sure they are happy and being treated fairly.
